This month we detox. Destagnate. Get going.
But as I've been teaching this week, to truly detox - to remove what isn't serving us any longer - requires TRUST. We have chosen our current state. Any change will change us truly and this is risky business. We don't fully know what that change may bring.
Sometimes we keep hold of what we are unknowingly, even when we want to change - our work, our food, our habit of being late or critical. So 'detox' this month requires that we trust what/who we may become without what is removed.
Imagine stripping a chair of its paint to refinish it. As we start to remove the paint, we don't know what will be underneath. Will it be better? Will it be worse? Once off will we be able to replace what we removed? Will it be as comfortable as what is familiar now? Will our friends and loves like it?
This month we build our strength to be capable of daring. Daring to trust. Daring to try. Daring to uncover who it is shining beneath our habits and doubts. We throw ourselves down in total surrender and feel our own full circulation wash us clean from the inside out believing in the soul that remains.
Much of this exploration of trust and evolution exists in the very texture and tension of our breath. Learning to simply listen to, feel into, and receive our breath is one of the most restorative, transformative practices we can learn.
"Inhale with warmth, elation and joy as if you are receiving the life force as a gift from God. Exhale with a sense of gratitude, silently expressing your humbleness to the Lord." - BKS Iyengar
