Late summer, unbound time
Ripening, sweetening, sweating, shapeshifting
August tends to be the low part of the year for the wellness industry. Class numbers drop with many people traveling and off their regular schedules. Weather is inviting us out rather than onto our mats. So over the years this has turned into my season for self study.
This year my focus is on pranayama/breathwork. Pranayama is a vast discipline. My interests are not in the sort that has swept the mainstream lately - the cathartic cycles of in in out in blindfolds and lying down. I am training in Tantric pranayama. The breath grows steady, smooth, lengthened, directed. The energy that rides the breath is altered, reweaving my own energy as it moves in and out. New patterns of breath are sustained and new patterns established in my mind.
There is a great artistry to it. For me working with my breath feels like the most intimate of dancing - a partner that neither wants to be pushed around nor dominated, but one that has a mind of her own, a way of her own that I can learn and receive.

I am noticing how these media choices came together recently, one at a time, and then one talking to the other in an astounding combination of images, story, cosmology, and music on Nature. Seeing them in combination, feeling the lessons they weave in my mind, I feel they are a curriculum constructed for me in this moment. They serve my classes and teaching. They serve my parenting considerations. They serve my personal concerns for our planetary wellbeing.
This is what I mean about deep breath work and receiving. If I set a frequency, if invite myself to be available to the Next Body of Knowing, to become My Next Body of Knowing, aligned resources arrive.
Currently our online sequence is at the throat, Vishuddha, where we clarify and harmonize what we offer (words, flower arrangements, accounting spreadsheets, art festivals, maps, so much) and what we hear. Clarifying our hearing means noticing and attuning to its meaning. I know this sequence is extending my antenna.
What is making itself known to you? Can you see your frequency is always being matched?
All love, Martha
