Inner Sun Retreat: Xinalani Resort, Mexico
What to Expect
A solstice journey into our bliss.
Hola! You are invited to join Martha McAlpine to the sun and heat of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Let’s revel in the the northern hemisphere’s longest day of light.
It is a chance to get away, sleep to the sound of the ocean, have your feet in the sand, laugh and eat with like-hearted souls, and move more fully into the incredible, multi-layered body of light that is your home for this lifetime.
We will use the 5 koshas / sheaths of the body as a map to chart our practices. From our outermost physical aspects to our inner bliss, day by day we will explore our 5 dimensions through movement, breath, and meditation.
❋ Intentional Structure
We will have a kundalini-focused morning practice to start the day and a vinyasa-focused afternoon, ending in a restorative yoga Nidra. See the schedule for our days below. Some afternoons there will be optional lecture-format gatherings for those what are interested.
❋ Daily yoga is optional
Martha has taught at Xinalani for 3 years before this retreat and is familiar with the place and how to bring its blessings to best use during our time there.
❋ Expert Facilitation
All levels are welcome to the classes. Modifications will always be available and props and mats are provided in all the studios. At any point in a class you are invited to go further if you know the way or lie down to rest your way through what doesn’t serve you.
❋ A Supportive Space
Though there are classes at the start and end of each day, there is plenty of time to explore the area with boats going into town, hike into the hills, sign up for spa treatments, or best of all, hang out on the beach with a book and the waves for as long as you like.
❋ Plenty of personal time
IF you have a partner or friend who would love to get away but doesn’t want to take classes with the group, that is totally welcome. Please feel free to bring those you would like and know that there is plenty of to do while we are in class..
❋ Partner friendly

Every meal is prepared fresh daily for the guests at the resort. While meat and fish are part of the menu, guests can ask for vegan or vegetarian options.
The resort has a farm they are working to expand, always trying to source food as locally as possible, and the menu is based on what is available in Mexico at this time of the year.
Expect fresh, delicious meals that can be tailored to your needs.
* What will we eat?
The Pacific coast of Central America is hilly to mountainous.
Xinalani is located on a steep hillside. They have tended the land they use with great care and many native plants have been restored and the property is lush with blossoms and fronds.
And due to the hillsides there are STAIRS everywhere. The beach is at the bottom, your rooms are in the middle, the studios are at the top. You will be wonderfully fit by the end of the week! Just a little loving preparation for the journeys back and forth.
